Hello everyone! I have some serious goodies this month.
Books AND Beats
I love when literature connects with song. Fortunately, this month’s kid lit presented just that. The Remarkable Adventure of Coyote Sunrise was a philosophical powerhouse of a book, following Coyote and her father as they come to terms with the past and build a future. The book made reference to the tunes of Langhorne Slim, so I had to look him up. Boy, was I in for a treat. Check out Past Lives.
I was also impressed with Israeli author Eshkol Nevo, whose novel Three Floors Up explores the lives of three families living in the suburbs. Indeed, life is not always picture perfect. Favorite quotation: “But apparently our soul doesn’t move forward but only in circles. Dooming us to fall into the same pits over and over again.” As we embark on the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, this felt especially relevant. If we truly desire to move forward, we must change our actions to avoid the pits. This is true repentance
Dare I admit that I also read Donald Trump’s Art of the Deal? And let me say, it was fantastic. The book presented a slice of history and insight into Trump’s “game”. I’m in. And I think more people should read it before the elections in November.
Barbells
I like working out. A lot. But I am aware that my passion is not shared by everyone. So this month, think about what you can do to either help pass the time or concentrate fully for a shorter period with a High Intensity Interval Training workout. The Tabata is one protocol, and a great way to get your heart rate up. Check it out here.
Peace and love,
Kit
