‘Tis the season, friends!

“Moral principles may be timeless, but moral choices can be made only among the options actually available at particular times and places.” – Thomas Sowell, Black Rednecks and White Liberals

I have been following Thomas Sowell since 2000, when I used to read Townhall.com on the daily. Back then he was a beacon of light, simplifying problems in terms I could understand. His book, Black Rednecks and White Liberals holds steady in that tradition. Offering an alternative to Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States, Sowell presents facts and truths that Zinn doesn’t include in his manifesto. I recommend reading both in an effort to gain a more nuanced understanding of where we are and why we came to be this way.

Indeed, the dichotomy of man is that he can perform good deeds and can also act in vile ways, but Sowell reminds us that creating a void in the name of “doing good” leaves room for evil to take hold—and it is nearly impossible to uproot.

Does anyone else scroll through American Idol auditions for good vibes? I’m in love with Iam Tongi – check him out with Lionel Richie’s Stuck on You.

I signed up for another 5K in support of Multiple Sclerosis research. If you have $5 to spare – I know inflation is rough, please consider donating. Also, I’m doing deadlifts. What about you?

Peace and love,
