Get Lit – Best of August 2025

Greetings, all!

Books:

I am reading an amazing book by Betty Edwards, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. What makes this text so special is the blending of philosophy and practice. Ms. Edwards instructs the reader through various drawing exercises, teaching the reader how to “see” and then translate the sights to paper. The idea that we often draw things as we believe them to be, not as they actually are, was profound and extends beyond art into life. In addition to drawing with greater skill I am now questioning which beliefs I hold because I have convinced myself of them due to preconceptions vs which beliefs I hold because of actual experience and witness.

Beats:

I also went to a fun concert at the Boca History Museum. The spotlight was on the 1940’s and the singer was a 90 year old British woman who survived the German bombings during WW2. It was a real treat to experience this slice of history. She sang a wonderful medley including hits from The Glenn Miller Band

Barbells:

Summer is winding down, but it’s still very hot and muggy down here in Florida. I’m considering taking the plunge…COLD plunge, that is. Have you tried it yet?

Peace and love,

Kit
