Get Lit – Best of December 2025

Hello friends!
I hope you are making the most of the final days of 2025 and that you reached your goals for health, professional growth, and personal fulfillment. Sometimes I forget that life is not a series of tasks to complete, but a process that creates meaning. I often find myself working from a sense of obligation, possibly because I overextend myself and don’t allow time for enjoyment once I complete something that was meaningful to me. On one hand, this makes me very productive. On the other hand, I feel that something is missing. This year I will make an effort to limit my “To Do” list. I hope that by creating restrictions, I will be able to expand.
What are your goals for the new year?

Books

A friend recommended the book Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents by author Lindsay Gibson, a clinical psychologist. I read the followup, Disentangling from Emotionally Immature People. Rather than focusing exclusively on the parent-child relationship, this book explored other relationships that pose frustration, insecurity, and barriers to fulfillment. I appreciated the workbook format which encourages reflection and leaves the reader feeling empowered to decide how much he wants to invest in a relationship that is not reciprocated or respected by one side.

For me, the more important outcome was my personal reflection: In which relationships am I not a reciprocating and respectful partner? What can I do to be more emotionally mature in those relationships?

This was a worthwhile book and a great way to start the new year.

Beats

I was lucky to join a Hanukkah celebration this month featuring Nissim Black as the main performer. I’ll let his music speak. Take the Crown ft. Aaron Holder is a must listen.

Barbells

One measure of health is the ability to move in a balanced and unrestricted way. Do you have the strength, flexibility, and balance to move yourself with ease? Try this challenge. Let me know if you want more bite sized fitness nuggets like this.

Peace and love,

Kit
