Get Lit – Best of February 2026

Hi, friends!

Quick Call to Action – I recently launched an Instagram for my homeschool business, @akiva.education (more here). I would be grateful if you could give me a follow and pass the profile along to friends who want access to fun activities for vocabulary and reading comprehension.

Books

Now that I’m an entrepreneur, I am even more intent on providing worthwhile content. As such, I have gotten back on the reading train. There were some great books this month.

A Pocket Full of Rye by Agatha Christie. This murder mystery kept me guessing until the end!

Key quotation: “People aren’t always what they think themselves to be.” It’s true, isn’t it? We often have perceptions of ourselves, but how well do those perceptions match up to other people’s assessments of us? What do we use as a metric to gauge who we really are? I remember hearing that we only know ourselves through other people’s eyes. Their opinions influence our actions as we try to reinforce or reinvent how they see us.

What do you want people to see when they look at you?

Beats

I am enjoying the choral voices of Edward Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius. It’s a powerful story and was featured in a recent movie The Choral.

Barbells

I bought a bike! You might see me cruising down the street one of these days. How are you preparing for spring?

🙂

Peace and love,

Kit
