Get Lit – Best of February 2024

Let’s get lit!

Books

Seth Godin always impresses and his book This is Marketing is another game-changer. Godin asks probing questions and demands a reckoning of values. It’s not about the money, he argues. There’s a story behind everything. We have to figure out what story we are telling. And why. And who we are aligning ourselves with. It’s especially important to ground ourselves in this when we listen to the news these days. Think of the language. Think of the story. Think of the story you’re telling yourself, or as Godin says, “People like us do things [or read newspapers] like this.” Let’s work to find some common ground so we can shift the narrative and promote shared humanity.

There is another important aspect of Godin’s book as it relates to navigating one’s own life (and levels of competency). I wrote an article about it because it’s important—and often under-appreciated. Read Trade Schools: The Last Bastion of Hope!

Beats

Tracy Chapman is a ray of light and Luke Combs is pure joy. Fast Car. Love all around.

Barbells

Shifting from barbells to boots. My local library has line dancing classes. Here’s the Cotton Eyed Joe!

Peace and love,

Kit
