Get Lit w/ Kit – May 2021

What a month!

This week’s audio features me!

I lent my voice to a worthy project in an effort to raise awareness in support of indigenous women. I am proud to be a part of it.

I also made my NYC acting debut of 2021 in this audio adaptation of Gidion’s Knot, directed by Hunter Francisco. It was a meaningful experience, the play is a conversation between Gidion’s mother and his teacher as they try to make sense of his suicide. I was grateful to engage with such talented artists.

After life slowed down a bit, I returned to my John Irving quest and read A Prayer for Owen Meany. Another home run for the author, as far as I’m concerned. It’s the story of a boy who lives his life to the fullest because he knows exactly when it’s going to end. Full of humor and wisdom, this is another fantastic book from Irving.

If you want to delve into a book that will prompt you to reevaluate your life, I recommend The Biggest Bluff by Maria Konnikova. Konnikova’s experience in psychology was no match for the overwhelming maelstrom that awaited her on the journey to become a poker pro. Learning to play the game and learning to read herself, the author shares insights from the best in the biz, collects universal wisdoms for life,  and challenges us to honestly assess why we do what we do.

As for fitness, I am going to recommend the Turkish Get Up. It’s a great way to warm up and work on stability and coordination.

Peace and love, Kit
